Ada Villa

Ada Villa was built as a two-storey residence set on one of the hilltops of Burgazada. The timber and concrete textures meeting the ground were chosen to speak the same language as the island's stone and wind. While the massing is positioned like a lookout point watching over the island from above, wide sliding glass panels open the interior seamlessly onto the pool, and from there, out to the sea.

Rather than a closed residential block, the ground floor was conceived as a terrace life expanding out toward nature. The living and dining areas meet the pool at the same ground level, and the landscape — surrounded by lavender and olive trees — becomes part of the building itself. The upper floor houses bedrooms shaded by timber louvres; each one looks out, from its own balcony, over the island's hills and the sea.

Ada Villa's design is the outcome of a search for a living space intertwined with nature, one that shifts shape with the seasons and the daylight. The simplicity of the material palette allows the building to settle into the island's topography without ostentation, and in the evening, with the sunset, this quiet architectural language reaches its most vivid expression.
